these are pics from my 1.21 survival world. recently, ive been switching to creative for certain projects and allowing myself more freedom to pick and choose which things i want to achieve on my own, and which things i would rather just skip by cheating. for example, i hate building redstone farms, so i could either mine a resource by hand, give myself some stacks from creative, or a combination of both. i've also been trying to let go of a lot of expectations. i can get very in my head about how i want a build to turn out, but i have brain fog and memory issues, so it's been harder to get the look i want when i attempt ambitious projects in a survival world. looking back on these screenshots, however, i am so entranced by my own strange ways of building. i feel like leaning into my deep relationship with abstraction and art for oneself is really paying off. i hope you end up liking it too :)
this is a weird library i built with the intention of it being an open concept villager trading hall. it was semi-successful for a minute until they all kept climbing up vines and falling or escaping into my shoddily guarded nether portal. either way, im proud of the build. most of it was done in survival, some accents might have been creative. for some reason i have a basement full of iron golemns as well, so that's cool. i'll have to post more pics as there are a lot of angles that are lacking here.
first off, i should talk inspiration. ive always been fascinated/terrified of large indoor spaces. indoor rollercoasters are my favorite thing when the lights are off, one of my least favorite when they accidentally turn the lights on. all of that twisting metal contained in a big ol' precarious structure... gives me the shivers. it also gave me an idea for a kind of indoor/underground village. i eventually might add a rollercoaster within the structure kind of weaving throughout, but havent gotten there yet. this space is also doubling as my new villager trading hall. this build is definitely a nice marriage between survival activities and ambitious creative builds.
